Sofapaka youth team coach Edward Munandi has hailed the smooth transition of his players to the senior side. Munandi is glad that the outfit is increasingly churning out players who are catching the eyes of the senior side’s technical bench officials, adding that it was an indication that it is heading somewhere.
Speaking during the team’s training session at Eastleigh High School in Nairobi yesterday, Munandi said the elevation of Tevin Omutere, in particular, would inspire other players to follow suit moving forward.
“The promotion of Tevin to the senior rank has brought a competition of sorts in the team and at this rate, I expect more players to scale the ladder,” he said.
Omutere, a left-footed offensive midfielder, has already broken through to Batoto Ba Mungu’s senior team, making him the second budding player to do so after Mohamed Kilume and Munandi hopes new recruits George Otieno and Daniel Nyaore will make a similar move.
In a related development, Munandi is delighted to see his team move up to fourth position in the Nairobi County Regional County League.
“During the first leg of the season, things were not rosy and the players appeared fearful of a backlash but things have now improved. We are number four and hopefully, we should challenge for top honours this season,” said Munandi.
