Tea Auction Records Slight Fall in Prices

The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on 30th and 31st August 2021 had 8.7 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer decreased from 9.1 million kilograms for the same period last year, but increased from 8.4 million kilograms offered during the previous sale.

Of all the tea offered for sale, 6.8 million kilograms were sold, compared to 7.9 million kilograms for the same period last year, and 6.5 million kilograms sold during the previous sale.

The tea auction recorded a slight decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $2.02, compared to $2.04 during the previous sale held on 23rd and 24th August 2021, but increased from $1.98 during the same period last year.
