The Plight Of Kenya Institute Of Management & Technology Kisii Campus Students

Hi Mr. President.

I wish to inform you that I have been a student of Kenya Institute of Management and Technology in collaboration with University of Eldoret. I missed my graduation today 30th of November 2018 due to misunderstanding between the college and University. Please, kindly investigate the matter, I am willing to give you all the information. Students from Kisii Campus also missed the graduation, I am not the only casualty.

Kenya Institute of Management and Technology is a TVET college that is in collaboration with University of Eldoret to offer courses in diploma and certificate. It’s situated at Nyakongo Plaza, fourth floor in Kisii town and in HEMA Hospital both in Kisii town.

Students who were supposed to graduate from Kisii were 91, but it seems that the school in Kisii was collecting money from students without remitting to the main campus in Eldoret. So the 91 students have cleared school fees, paid for the graduation fees, payed for the gown only to check the final graduation list with no names from Kisii.

The management of Kisii town gave an announcement that the graduation ceremony will not be able to take place in Eldoret due to unavoidable reasons. But in the media, the graduation ceremony was being advertised all over. I made an effort of going to Eldoret town and I confirmed that the graduation ceremony took place yesterday as it was advertised.

Personally, I believe our names from Kisii town were omitted due to the misunderstanding between the college and University of Eldoret main campus over issues to do with money. So they waited until Wednesday evening, which is when we received a text message from Kisii telling us graduation ceremony will not take place. I spoke to the administrator of the main campus, and he told me that they have not excluded anyone from the graduation ceremony.

I can also send you screenshots of my conversation with the Main Campus and our Madam Principal. You will just notice something is wrong because the two parties are not speaking with one voice. I spoke with the administration of the main campus without the knowledge of our management in Kisii town.
