Ushuru and Kisumu Allstars yesterday suffered shock National Super League (NSL) results in their quest to chase for premiership promotion.

In what was an active round 31 where the two title chasers were firmly neutralised, the taxmen on fourth are stuck on 58 points after falling 2-1 to FC Talanta at Camp Toyoyo.

Chris Owino and Shem Odinga were the scorers for Talanta in both halves. In  Thika, seventh-placed Bidco managed a goalless draw against high-riding Kisumu Allstars. The lakeside men who are now on 64 points, pressed hard and high but the home team made life difficult for them.

Shadrack Omondi and Ian Mtanda who were excellent last week against Eldoret Youth were neutralised for the most part of the match with marauding left back Victor Arabe pushed back by the impeccable Bidco now at 49 points.

This could come as welcome news to second-placed Wazito who could cut the gap to just a single point if they manage to go past a resurgent Kenya Police today.

The lawmakers are fifth on the log with 56 points and have a knack of creating problems to the big boys. Coach Charles Omondi will be relying on the firing power of Abraham Dawo and goal machine David Oluoch who has 15 goals.

At Bukhungu Stadium, struggling Green Commandos got back to winning ways after thumping visiting Migori Youth 5-0 to move to 21 points. Hesborn Nyabinge’s young charges were in control straight from the first whistle with Athanas Masheti and Kellam Ashuma scoring braces.

At the same time Shabana and Modern Coast Rangers tied 1-1 at Gusii Stadium as Tore Bobe stuck to eighth in the log.  Captain Wycliffe Nyangechi scored on the hour through penalty flick after Dominic Kaithak had opened the scored in the 32nd minute of the entertaining match.
