It has emerged that Ruto’s strong presence in Murangá had real prospects of antagonizing his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, with Ruto’s allies most likely seizing the opportunity to organize locals to cheer their man at the President’s expense.

Ruto is understood to command substantial following in Murangá against the backdrop of his perceived woes at the top level ahead of the 2022 succession, with the populous Mt Kenya region split right through the middle.
