Interior CS Fred Matiang’i says at least 31 million persons which is about 65 percent of the country’s population have been registered for Huduma Namba adding that the May 18 deadline will not be extended.

Issuing an update on the mass registration exercise Monday, the CS said the registration gadgets will be moved to the Assistant chief’s offices in various locations and that the daily registration had been adjusted.

“We, the Inter-ministerial Coordination Committee on Huduma Namba, have resolved to adjust the daily registration period from 8am—5pm to 6am—6pm to accommodate people with busy schedules in the run-up to the Saturday, May 18, 2019 deadline.” He said

“Kenyans need to know that we are paying those conducting this exercise Sh1000 a day and in case we extend by a day then it means we are going to spend a little more money, “ Noted Matiang’i.

According to Matiang’i, 154 KEMS kits had been dispatched to 54 Kenyan missions across the world where the listing exercise will continue until June 20.

“We started active registrations in missions a bit late but reports indicate we’re doing well,” added Matiang’i.

CS Joe Mucheru (ICT) said an online portal from which Kenyan will be able to update their details on the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) platform will be available by the end of June.

Mucheru said the NIIMS registration will enable the government to plan and offer services more efficiently.
