Arsenal will be looking to cash in on some deadweight in their squad in this summer's transfer season after a trophyless season under Unai Emery.

For a third successive year Arsenal will be missing out on the Champions League after missing out on the top four and losing to Chelsea in the Europa League final.

Here are five players that Arsenal should seriously consider selling if they hope to finally land silverware in Arsenal's spacious trophy cabinet at Emirates.

Mohamed Elneny

Elneny has spent most of the season warming the bench and has at times not even been listed in the squad.

Signed in January 2016, Arsenal have held onto the Egyptian for over three years and it may be time to release him and use the money to invest in fresh talent.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos

According to Four Four Two, no other centre-back averaged more fouls or cautions per game in the Premier League.

It is a deep indicator of lack of composure and recklessness that Arsenal cannot afford to have anymore in defence.

Shkodran Mustafi

Germany world cup winner Shkodran Mustafi has been poor throughout Arsenal's campaign and not half the player he once was back in 2014.

Mustafi has not been consistent and is lacking the crucial surgical approach that Emery desperately needs to implement his strategies effectively.

Being only 27, Arsenal might us well cashin on him this summer and exchange for a more impacting player.

Laurent Koscielny

One very glaring weakness the Emery is clearly aware of and that Arsenal will immediately have to upgrade is its defence.

Arsenal conceded as much as 51 goals, setting a new defensive record.

They will have to bring in reinforcements to tighten their leaky back wall and it may be time to retire the 33-year-old veteran defender and search for a young energetic defender.

Mesut Ozil

Being the highest earning player in Arsenal and among the top five best-paid players in the premier league, Ozil has no excuses for his miserable season.

The German has less assists than Monreal having only provided just two in 24 appearances in the Premier League last season.

Selling Ozil will really help lessen Arsenal's wage bill and provide more space for Unai Emery to revamp his squad.
