6 Scandals DPP Noordin Haji Ignored In 2018, Despite Public Outcry

The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji ignored a number of scandals in 2018, despite huge public outcry.

Despite there being a huge outcry, Noordin Haji did nothing even after confirming that fraud had been confirmed.

Here are some of the scandals

Sylvia Mulinge Murder Scandal

Safaricom director Sylvia Mulinge, while driving drunk, hit a young girl and killed her in 2015. The office of the DPP received a letter and requested for the file from the DCI but the case was later killed in mysterious circumstances. Using courts and what is believed to be collusion between the office of DPP and DCI and courts, Mulinge walked free. Despite social media pressure, the office of DPP has refused to re-open the case, confirming Safaricom had used their financial might to kill the case.

Ruaraka Land Saga

When the editor of this site inquired why the Ruaraka land saga was being delayed, the office of ODPP Tweeted claiming the culprits would be arraigned before the end of 2018. The Ruaraka land saga was huge since it involved the big fish and there were reports that either EACC or DPP offices had been compromised or were afraid to pursue people like Fred Matiangi that made a cameo appearance in the saga.

“In the case of Ruaraka land, some of the money has already been wired to Mauritius and that is why we need thorough investigations. It’s becoming very difficult for us,” Haji said in June this year.

There were reports that some evidence was being tampered with by the two offices to shield some individuals

Joshua Oigara Saga

A lobby group sent a letter to Noordin Haji demanding the arrest of KCB CEO Joshua Oigara over money laundering and fraud

In the letter, Oigara and his KCB counterparts are accused of unlawful issuance of loans totaling to Ksh. 1.2 billion to Weston Hotel in order to facilitate its operations despite the hotel sitting on an irregularly acquired piece of land without a title deed.

The land that Weston Hotel sits on was unlawfully acquired from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCCA) and during the issuance of these loans by KCB, the land’s title deed was not presented. This would, therefore, mean that Joshua Oigara issued a Ksh. 1.2 billion loans against an inexistent title deed.

Considering such huge loans cannot be issued without the official approvals of KCB C.E.O and Group M.D, the blame is solely on Oigara and the group’s managing director who colluded with other top government officials to award Weston Hotel these loans without following due diligence at the expense of taxpayers.

Bankers in NYS Saga

The NYS saga would not have been possible without the bankers that laundered the money for the criminals. Despite threats and media scares, the individuals that laundered the proceeds of crime are walking free. There are reports that the bankers united and told the office of DPP to go slow

NSSF Scandals

The biggest of the scandals include scandals involving a section of NSSF top management who reportedly lost billions of taxpayers’ money through four ongoing construction projects in Nairobi, namely: Hazina Towers, Milimani Executive Apartments, Nyayo Estate Embakasi Phase VI and Tassia.
