Antonio Rudiger, Chelsea defender, will sit out Blues Champions’ League Group H opener against Valencia on Tuesday, September 17, at Stamford Bridge.

According to Daily Mail report, Rudiger, who cropped a groin injury during Saturday's 5-2 win at Wolves has been ruled out of Valencia by club boss Frank Lampard.

“Toni is injured, he bothered by a small groin problem he's been carrying so he's out and he'll have a scan,” Lampard was quoted as saying.

The Blues manager further revealed the pair of N'Golo Kante and Callum Hudson-Odoi are 'fit, but not match fit', and are not expected to be paraded against the La Liga visitors.

Tammy Abraham is expected to lead the line again after his decent show against Wolves in the Premier League.

“I never had clear expectations for him apart from the fact that I believed in him and trusted him,” Lampard said.
“I know a lot was made of the (transfer) ban giving opportunities for young players. But I thought now was his time," he added.
