- The Frenchman has instead tipped Arsenal to challenge Man City and Liverpool for the league title

- Arsenal are fifth on the standings with seven points from four matches

Arsene Wenger contends Arsenal are the only other side that can challenge Man City and Liverpool for the Premier League title.

Both City and Liverpool have been crowned as clear favourites to lift the title after a bright start to the new season.

Liverpool currently sit on the summit of the log with 12 points, having won all the four matches of the new season, with Man City, who are the defending champions second with 10 points after dropping points against Tottenham in matchweek 2.

Arsenal, on the other hand are fifth after garnering seven points from four matches, including a hard-fought 1-0 win over Newcastle in their season opener.

However, Wenger believes his former side has everything it takes to mount a serious challenge for the domestic title.

“Maybe the team who has the potential is Arsenal who could be the closest to challenge Man City and Liverpool,” Wenger told beIN Sports.

Meanwhile, the 69-year-old pointed out Chelsea's young squad could hinder their chances of competing effectively, adding Man United are yet to discover a rhythm under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“Chelsea looks a bit young, not enough maturity upfront and not enough maturity at the back. Man Utd hasn’t found a settled way where you could say today they could fight for the championship," he noted.
