- The Yorkshire club has however endured a difficult start to their campaign, going 11 matches without a win

Barnsley have fired Daniel Stendel as manager following the Championship side's difficult start to their campaign.

The outfit suffered a 5-1 thrashing by Preston on Saturday, October 5, dropping to 23rd on the log having gone 11 matches without a win.

Stendel, who led the club to automatic promotion to the Championship has been unable to guide his side to winning ways in the second tier.

Alarmed by the dip in form, Barnsley's top brass has now resolved to make changes to their technical bench.

Adam Murray has now been appointed to take over as caretaker manager ahead of the club's crucial home match with Swansea City.

"Barnsley Football Club confirms that it has separated from Daniel Stendel with immediate effect. Adam Murray has been appointed caretaker manager," the club said in a statement.
