Court suspends AGM for Kenya Society of Physiotherapists

A Nairobi high court has Wednesday issued an extended order suspending the annual general meeting for the Kenya Society of Physiotherapists (KSP).

Two members of the society Dr Catherine Wambui and Henry Opondo had had sort the courts redress arguing that the said AGM organized by the chairman of the Society and National Officials of KSP did not comply to the organization’s constitution of 2010.

They claimed that the officials of the society had overstayed their term in office and that they had changed the constitution in order to continue being in office contrary to the law.

The two petitioners claim that since the organization has over 2300 members, they should have all been consulted on the matter.

Lady justice Wilfrida Okwany directed that the parties respond to the petition and the matter be mentioned on  8 May 2019 to confirm compliance.

Elsewhere Kirinyaga County Governor Ann Waiguru appeared before Milimani law courts senior principal magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot  in a 2011 case where Duncan Kamau and Rosemary Achieng are accused of fraud involving over 27 million shillings.

The Governor had been summoned to explain the procedures of the Integrated Financial Management Information System commonly referred to as IFMIS.

Waiguru who at the time was working in treasury said she cannot recall some of the details in the tender process and the people involved in the procurement as it was a long time ago.

The court will give a date for ruling on whether the two have a case to answer
