DAILY POST: Big blow to UHURU and RAILA ODINGA as KABOGO joins RUTO’s Tanga Tanga squad - We don’t want a Prime Minister in 2022 Politics 06:42
Monday January 7, 2019 - Former Kiambu Governor,
William Kabogo, has said he will not support a referendum to increase seats in
the Executive.
In an interview with a local daily on Monday, Kabogo like Deputy President
William Ruto said he will only support a referendum that will address issues
facing Kenyans and not create positions for somebody sitting in Nairobi.
“The audit will help 'Wanjiku' understand what excites and pains him or
her. 'Wanjiku' will come up with long-term solutions on how to be governed and
how key national issues can be fixed,” Kabogo said.
The outspoken leader said the referendum should strengthen devolution
by increasing the allocation of funds to Counties from 15 percent to
35 percent.
The flamboyant politician also said that all leaders should be involved in
the constitutional reform process and "all parties should agree"
before the referendum.
"Public participation is crucial so that some people are not left
behind," he said.
NASA leader, Raila Odinga, and President Uhuru Kenyatta are among leaders
who are supporting the referendum to increase seats in the Executive.
The two leaders say by increasing seats in the Executive, the
country will be more united since it will avoid a scenario where the winner
takes it all.
