Monday January 15, 2019-Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has urged Deputy President William Ruto to stay the course, assuring him that he will become President come 2022.

Speaking at Joy Celebration Church of Kenya in Naivasha, where he had accompanied the Deputy President William Ruto for a church service, Waititu reiterated that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader, Raila Odinga, will work in favour of Ruto contrary to the popular opinion that the handshake was a deal breaker for him and might favour Raila. According to Waititu, the handshake is meant to bring balance and enable DP Ruto traverse even the Opposition stronghold to further cement his chances of becoming the President and was never about impeding him.

"The handshake should not worry you, it's meant to bring balance so that the Deputy President can strategize well,” said Waititu amid cheers from the congregation. 

"We know him (DP Ruto) as a very clever man, the handshake has enabled him to see and get support from all over the country, including Opposition strongholds,” he added.
