According to the Kiambu county boss, the larger Central Kenya region was fully behind Ruto because of the simple fact that the DP has been pivotal in President Uhuru Kenyatta clinching the top job two terms in a row.
“Mount Kenya faiothful are smart people. We don’t want to look like conmen who conned people of Rift Valley. We don’t want to look like children,” he said amid applause from the crowd.

For Raila, it has been an open secret the ODM leader is not the biggest fan of Ruto and he has consistently accused the DP of being Kenya’s biggest threat as far as corruption was concerned.
But Waititu expressed confidence that the DP enjoyed massive favor from the public even if sections of leaders tried to cripple his campaign.

With a little over two years before the next poll, the political landscape has already began taking shape, with a mass split within the Jubilee party in the horizon.
Two warring sides have emerged with distinct brands namely The Tangatanga movement which comprises serious pro-Ruto leaders and the Kitaeleweka lot who remain adamant Jubilee owes the DP no favors.
Most recently, Ruto allied leaders including Waititu had their security detail controversially withdrawn with the leaders crying foul over the government’s attempt to frustrate them for backing the DP.
