- Wanyama has promised fans a good showing when Kenya take on Mozambique at Kasarani
- The two teams intend to use the clash to hasten their preparations for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers
- Wanyama, who missed Stars' last tie against Uganda has exuded optimism the team will shine
Victor Wanyama is set to reclaim the captain's armband when Harambee Stars take on Mozambique in an international friendly on Sunday, October 13, at Kasarani Stadium.
The midfielder opted out of Stars' friendly clash against neighbours Uganda in September, with Japan-based striker Michael Olunga assuming the captaincy role.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw as new players defied all odds to prove to head coach Francis Kimanzi why they should be in the team.
Wanyama has now come out to rally behind the players, exuding optimism of guiding the national football team to glory.
“The new players did great and I hope they will pick from where they left as we take on Mozambique," Nation quoted the Tottenham midfielder.
"I’m happy to be back in the team and I look forward to working with my fellow teammates since a win is what we are all going for,” he added.
Meanwhile, both teams will be using the encounter in preparation for next month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
Kenya are scheduled to battle Egypt in their group clash opener away in Cairo on Monday, November 11, as Mozambique entertain Rwanda in Maputo three days later.
