'He sings like an angel' Sauti Sol announce their first sign in BenSoul under Sol Generation

BenSoul has finally decided to take his career to the next level and he is pretty excited about the new venture in his career.

Sauti Sol had mentioned that they were going to sign a few new artistes this year other than being signed into a record label. BenSoul is part of their project under their Sol Generation.

The whole team came in on Breakfast With The Stars on KISS FM with Adelle and Shaffie and BenSoul explained how it all started.

we’ve been friends for a while so we were called in for a jam session with many artistes. so then later I got called and they said they want to sign me in. bien is the one guy who reached out a lot and here we are

So before Ben was taken up by Sauti Sol, he says he has been in the game professionally for a while.

i have been doing music professionally for 5 years up until he called me

What does he wish to achieve after accepting the call to be signed in under Sol generation?

I believe I want to send my message all the way to mashinani and they have the muscle to. a man is his message not what he does. so if my message gets to the intended reach then that is my happiness. and sol generation will help me do this

BenSoul is famously known for his song, Masheesha which took over the club as soon as it was launched. There is more to Ben than that. He is also an amazing songwriter. He has been part of many big artistes songs including the recent song, Telenovela by Kidum.

Sauti Sol has been silent hence so many people have called them out saying they have not signed in nor have they mentored anyone to become as successful as they have. Bien responded to this saying:

we have been thinking about this for over 2 years. so many problems came along INCLUDING finances and lack of strategy. we took time to review artistes to make sure they have some shelf life, not just a one hit wonder

So why BenSoul out of the many during the ‘jam session’?

 we picked him because he is good at everything, he sings like an angel writes like an angel and he can play so many instruments.

Bien insists this is not something for Sauti Sol but to encourage Kenyans that you can be anything you want.

its a plan to encourage guys who look up to sauti sol that from the lowest point in one’s life to a point where we are signing in artistes.

The members of the band have various roles. Chimano is all about the visual life and creative direction to give views what he called ‘a visual orgasm’.

Bien is all about public relations. To make sure the good things are out in the media and of course head of songwriters. In case you do not know, he mentioned that he just registered the Writers Association to make sure writers make money out of the beautiful art.

BenSoul dropped his first song under Sol Generation exclusively on KISSFM and I must say just like Bien said, he writes and sings like an angel. The song, ‘Lucy‘ he says was inspired by a girl he knew who dated two of his friends and the guys had no idea they were being played.
