The launch of the new multi-million Water front project in Mombasa County is set fuel the coastal tourism ambitions. The project, developed in coordination between the National and County Government of Mombasa at a cost of Sh460 million with the main contractor being Suhufi Agencies. Coast tourism and hospitality industry players, led by Pride Inn Managing Director, Hasnain Noorani who is also chairman of the Coast Working Group applauded the national and county government for making this a reality. “Waterfront project is a beautiful project which is going to change the entire image of Mombasa. It will in deed create an added tourism point for Mombasa where holiday makers will be able to sample local cuisines and local products whilst enjoying the beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. We therefore call for quality workmanship to deliver the desired outcomes,” said Mr. Noorani.

 Noorani added that Mombasa has enjoyed stability as well as high global rankings for its internet and mobile penetration, which made it attract an increased number of holiday makers according to 2018 tourism performance report released on Monday. The aggressive digital marketing campaigns by the government have positioned Mombasa as a perfect destination for holiday. “Mombasa is on track to achieve double digit tourism growth because of the vision of several government entities that are all playing a vital role in boosting tourism and hospitality sector, and we are seeing it pay off,” Said Mr. Noorani Tourism is a major puller to economic growth and development. Hotels are one of the institutions that practically source for everything and anything. “Water front project will provide a unique sense of place for visitors and offer nature lovers, adventurers, cultural explorers and guests looking to escape and rejuvenate a wide range of exclusive experiences, combining luxury, tranquillity, adventure and beautiful landscapes,” added Noorani.

And Mombasa county Chief Officer for Tourism, Mr Innocent Mugabe said that they are excited at the prospects of having a project which will be handed over to them to manage. ''We salute the national government for this timely gesture and are looking forward for more projects of this magnitude to help make Mombasa more popular destination,'' Mugabe said.
