DAILY POST: I may not be ready to run against RUTO in 2022-GIDEON MOI now reveals as his party explains why it may be difficult for the KANU chairman News 05:19

Wednesday January 16, 2019-Baringo Senator Gideon Moi now seems to be shying away from the 2022 Presidential contest and might give Deputy President William Ruto an easy ride to State House going by the recent statements.
This is after his party admitted that it was not ready for the 2022 contest. In a statement, the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party has admitted that it is weak and not ready for the approaching 2022 General Election and so is Gideon Moi, who is planning to run for the Presidency on the ticket. This was corroborated by party Secretary General Nick Salat, who said KANU lacks sufficient membership going into 2022; something that might negatively hinder its performance in the polls. Besides, he noted that the party also had a number of vacant slots which it seeks to fill up to avoid being caught unprepared.“We are not facing any issues of indiscipline or rebellion, but we have our challenges, which we must address in readiness for the 2022 polls,” he said.
However, Salat said they working on improving their grassroots support in a bid to re-strengthen the once very vibrant side whose leadership came to a halt in 2002.
"We must prepare ourselves better than before.”
“To do that, we need to find a way of oiling our system.”
“We need well-oiled machinery to compete favorably in 2022," added Salat.
