Injury update on Granit Xhaka

Premier League side Arsenal is sweating on the fitness of Granit Xhaka after the midfielder picked up a minor thigh injury while on international duty. 

Xhaka who scored a screamer in Switzerland‘s 3-3 draw with Denmark was taking off in the 79th  minute and is doubtful for Arsenal game against Newcastle. Switzerland threw away a 3-0 lead in the closing stages and a number of fans raised concerns why Xhaka was taken off. 

“Xhaka could not stay on the pitch. He asked me ten minutes before to be replaced. Granit had adductor problems, he could not do any more,” boss Vladimir Petkovic said on subbing Xhaka. 

However, the 26-year-old has now eased injury fears with a media post saying his focus is now on their Arsenal match against Newcastle.
