- Alexis Sanchez will be seeking to rediscover his form at Inter Milan after completing a loan move

- His exit from Old Trafford now leaves the iconic No.7 jersey vacant

- United have struggled to find a perfect replacement for the number since Ronaldo leaving the club for Madrid

Man United star Jesse Lingard has reportedly shown interest in the famous No. 7 jersey vacated by Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez left United on transfer deadline day, sealing a sensational season-long loan switch to Inter Milan.

The No.7 shirt has failed to find a perfect replaced at Old Trafford since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese star's predecessors all flopping.

Memphis Depay was the last player to sport the jersey before Sanchez succeeding it after his arrival from Arsenal in January 2018.

However, after enduring a torrid spell with the Red Devils, the Manchester outfit finally managed to get the Chilean off the books - at least for a season.

In his absence, several United players will be in contention to have the shirt, with Express UK reporting Lingard is eyeing the iconic number.

However, former Man United striker Louis Saha is not convinced Lingard is the right man, insisting he is not happy with the idea.

“I mean, no disrespect, Jesse’s a player from the academy and he’s been there a long time, he understands. But as I mentioned it’s not just something that you just claim," Saha was quoted saying.
“It’s something that people give to you for some reason because you now have attached to your back something that represents the club, you represent the club, the history and all that," he added.
