Julie Gichuru is one of the celebs who memorialised Mother’s Day yesterday with an ode to her mother.

The media personality posted an image on her Instagram page showing a TBT of her rarely seen father and mother cradling her when she was an infant.

The emotional caption that accompanied the image is below:

You truly appreciate the role of your mother when you are able to visualise yourself at your most vulnerable… Mama, thank you for being such a wonderful, loving, spiritual, principled, strong, intelligent, fiercely protective, and nurturing Mama!
Thank you also for being so cute ? I got some of them genes from you ???❤❤❤ But seriously Mummy… thank you for being a wonderful Mama, always. I love you ??❤

Some comments from her followers concerning the post are below;

bernice_nyarnyamwa: “I don’t drink water from the Tap ,only keringet and yes I don’t date broke guys face is what you made there ??
mariam_bishar: OMG your face is such a meme in that photo?????

chriskirwa: The ATT then ??? mom clearly did great work ???

While most might be more concerned with Julie’s meme face, I am more interested in the image of her parents together; her father an Indian from Kashmir and her mother a Kikuyu.

That this picture was most likely taken in the mid 70’s is an ode to the progressive nature of the two.

Even today, race mixing among indigenous Kenyans and those from the Asian sub-continent is rarely observed. I wonder why?
