Andrew Kitaka has been picked to take over duties at the Kampala Capital City Authority as acting executive director after the exit of Jennifer Musisi.

Kampala Minister Betty Namisango Kamya said Tuesday that Mr Kitaka will hold the post in an interim capacity awaiting decision by the appointing authority, President Yoweri Museveni.

Ms Musisi tendered her resignation on October 15 to President Museveni effective December 15 after serving since 2011.

“To ensure continuity and smooth running of the City, I have assigned duties of Executive Director to Eng. Andrew Kitaka Mubiro, who is substantively the Director Engineering and Technical Services as KCCA,” Ms Kamya said in a statement.

Ms Musisi is credit with cleaning up the city, lighting, upgrading roads, building heath facilities and renovating dilapidated ones, equipping schools and introducing welfare and skilling schemes.

But President Museveni blamed her aggressive reforms for the decline of his popularity in the Ugandan capital.
