- Victor Wanyama is set to miss Harambee Stars' friendly tie against Uganda

- Olunga has been named as the team's captain in the absence of the Tottenham midfielder

- The match will be Francis Kimanzi's first since replacing Sebastien Migne as Stars head coach

Japan-based forward, Micahel Olunga, is set to captain Harambee Stars during their clash slated for Sunday, September 8, against Uganda Cranes.

The two East African neighbours will face off in a friendly tie at the Moi International Centre, Kasarani in what will be Francis Kimanzi's first match in charge since replacing Sebastien Migne.

Kimanzi has now handed Olunga the armband ahead of the encounter, with the prolific striker replacing Victor Wanyama who is out injured.

“If you don’t have your regular captain, then you have to look around and pick among the most experienced players and [Olunga] stands out,” Goal quoted Kimanzi.
“Olunga will lead the side and I know with the experience he has, he will do a good job," he added.

Gor Mahia defender and Joash Onyango who was recently crowned Most Valuable Player of the Year is set to deputise Olunga as vice-captain.

Meanwhile, Kimanzi is grappling with a raft of injuries ahead of the Uganda test, with several other key players set to miss the match.

Johanna Omollo, Joseph Okumu, Ismael Gonzalez and Zambian-based striker Jesse Were headline the long list of injured players.
