KOT ‘judges’ declare Zarika the loser in Phiri fight

Shortly after Fatuma ‘Iron Fist’ Zarika’s decisive unanimous decision victory over Catherine Phiri, fans began to conjure up conspiracy theories that the result had been fixed.

Zarika, the World Boxing Council (WBC) women Super bantamweight champion, dominated Phiri in the opening rounds but the Zambian overcame her slow start and seemed to be flourishing before the bout was ended in the 10th round.

There was hardly any trace of disappointment on Phiri’s face as Zarika’s hand was lifted into the air in declaration of her victory but ‘corruption’ was the most common word that fans tweeted at the end of the Nairobi ‘Fight Night’.

Those who defended the judges’ unanimous decision claimed that while Phiri threw more punches, she missed her target as compared to Zarika who’s composed shots were cleaner and decisive.
