Former Lamu Governor Issa Timammy has faulted the County Government of Lamu for laxity in conducting the coronavirus awareness campaign.

Timammy claims the county is taking the pandemic lightly instead of enforcing the quarantine directive issued by the government.

He said the case of the Italian who traveled from Malindi to Mpeketoni suspected to be having the deadly virus proved the county was not prepared to handle the pandemic.

He said it was sad the county government did not quarantine the Italian and instead took him to several hospitals.

Reports indicate that the Italian arrived in Mpeketoni and took himself to Hospital but the county officials transferred him from one hospital to another instead of isolating him.
