Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Maliti Thursday received and flagged off for distribution to all health facilities assorted medical supplies worth Ksh 60 Million from Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA).

The supplies include medicines for common infectious diseases, pain relievers for both in and outpatients, medicine for chronic illness and emergency drugs.

The Deputy Governor also received non-pharmaceutical items such as gloves, needles and syringes among other items.

Eng. Maliti further inspected a newly procured and installed 64 slice CT Scan and Endoscopy Machine at the Machakos County Level 5 referral hospital.

The machine, he said, will begin operations from Monday May 30.

“With this new machine, patients with various conditions that require Radiological imaging will no longer be referred to private facilities or travel for longer distances for such services,” Eng. Maliti said.

The Deputy Governor who is also vying to succeed his boss Dr Alfred Mutua has promised to build on Mutua’s legacy and make the county a shining example in Kenya and beyond.

“When I assume office as the Governor, I will ensure our people continue enjoying quality and affordable healthcare by partnering with National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF),” Maliti said.

“In this program, households will contribute Ksh 6000 annually, but my Government will cushion thousands of already identified less privileged families from across the County,” he added.
