Catherine Kamau better known by her stage name Kate Actress become a mother at a very early age and with the experiences she had, she’s now an advocate against teenage pregnancies. Children are definitely a blessing but she says bringing a child into the world when one is not ready is not an interesting road to take. Her strong message is simple, wait. This caption was prompted after the statistics that were released in the course of the week showing the alarming numbers of teenage pregnancies in different counties of Kenya.
“My heart is completely broken 💔 the teenage pregnancies statistics reported earlier this week (if factual ) are shocking , we need to speak louder IT IS NOT OKAY , BABIES ARE NOT ACCESSORIES, YOUNG QUEENS PLEASE WAIT . YOUR TIME WILL COME . However Some of them are victims of rape and fallen pregnant as a result , 🤦🏽‍♀️, where is the law ?? We need to have this conversation with our sons too , takes 2 to tangle , we must raise a better generation. This is heavy 😔” Kate posted
When she was pregnant with Baby K, she took it upon herself to go to schools and educate young girls on the stress that comes with being a teenage mother. Her message was strongly for the girls to wait until they are ready to start engaging in sexual activities because even away from getting pregnant, one may get STI’s. The statistics released by the government were alarming. The number of teenage pregnancies in just three months is shocking and to make it worse, most of them are from rape incidences by family members.
