President Kenyatta condoles former President Moi following son’s death

President Uhuru Kenyatta today visited former President Daniel Arap Moi at his Kabarak home and personally conveyed his condolences following the death of Jonathan Toroitich Moi.

Upon his arrival at the former President’s family home in Nakuru County, President Kenyatta who was received by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, signed the condolences book before proceeding for a private meeting with the retired President.

The President condoled with the bereaved family and assured them of his full support during this difficult period of mourning.

The Head of State paid tribute to the late Jonathan Moi, describing him as his friend and brother.

Former President Moi’s Press Secretary Lee Njiru, confirmed Jonathan’s death on Friday evening without giving much details.

The younger Moi a former Safari Rally driver who was in his late 60s was living in Eldama Ravine after he lost in the 2017 general elections.

In a statement, his brother Senator Gideon Moi described him as an amiable, social, down to earth and industrious man.

“We are distraught as family and we ask for your prayers and seek your understanding and indulgence to allow us mourn privately,” the Senator said.
