The Africa Union High Representative for Infrastructure Raila Odinga on Sunday took the COVID-19 test at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in Mbagathi.
Odinga who said a COVID-19 certificate was becoming an important document, appealed to all Kenyans to undergo the test.
The former Prime Minister also visited testing laboratories where he motivated the scientists involved in the testing and encouraged them to continue serving Kenyans with dedication.
Odinga took the test as Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe urged political leaders to lead by example by following the containment measures.
He said the ministry was particularly concerned about the social gatherings by politicians and other people saying such would reverse the gains made in slowing down the coronavirus infections.
He appealed to Interior ministry officers to ensure people strictly follow the COVID-19 containment measures.
Some politicians have been holding meetings against the ministry of health protocols.
