Wednesday November 28, 2018-Celebrations erupted in Kibera yesterday as a frail-looking but cheerful Rosemary Odinga made a triumphal entry into the Raila Odinga Educational Centre.

This was the first time former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s daughter was appearing for the first time since 2017 when she was taken ill and diagnosed with brain tumor. Rosemary confirmed the worst as she admitted to going blind as a result of brain tumor that left her with deteriorating eye sight. Accompanied by her aide Caroline Achieng and Nominated MCA, Catherine Okoth, Rosemary presided over a charity to uplift living standards of women in Kibera slums. She cited her own health challenges to deliver a message of hope to the women. “I am still struggling to adapt to the new changes, having lost my sight during my illness.” “I have had support from everybody around me for which I am very grateful,” Rosemary said. "I will continue to do what my heart most desires, to empower women in our country.” “I am getting more confident now on my new life after losing my sight following the surgery,” she added.
