A Machakos police officer arrested on suspicion of raping a suspect was arraigned in a Machakos court to answer sexual offences charges. He also faces dismissal from the force according to a source at National Police Service Commission. Already, a letter towards disciplinary action has been dispatched to relevant offices. Masake Wanga who is leading the investigations into the matter to be given more time to complete the exercise. Granting the request, the magistrate ordered the suspect be remanded at the Matuu Police Station. The constable was arrested by his colleagues in the act after he dragged the 45-year-old-woman who had been summoned to the station in relation to a goat theft to his quarters, where he allegedly repeatedly raped her before she was rescued by other police officers. Confirming the incident, Machakos county police commander Karanja Muiruri condemned it and urged members of the public to view it as an act of a wayward individual rather than that of an entire police service. He disclosed that medical examinations contacted on the victim had confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted
