Sofapaka coach Melis Medo resigns, re-appoints John Baraza

Sofapaka FC coach Melis Medo has resigned after only seven matches in the 2018/19 Kenya Premier League season. 

The tactician has not had a perfect start, winning just one of the seven games played, drawing four and losing the other two, a result that has left them at position 11 on 7 points.

Batoto Ba Mungu has now reappointed John Baraza to lead the club before another coach is appointed.

Elsewhere, Administartion Police will be out to cut Ushuru FC’s lead at the top of the National Super League when the two sides clash Tuesday.

Ushuru is currently in the lead with 19 points, eight above the officers. Second placed Wazito will clash with Bidco United as FC Talanta take on Green Commandos.

Talanta is third with 16 points, only three shy of Ushuru, and will hope to maintain a fine run against a Green Commandos side that has not won a match since their opening day win over Modern Coast Rangers.

Meanwhile, Midfielder Humphrey Mieno has completed his move from Gor Mahia to Ethiopian side Saint George.

The former Sofapaka and Tusker star has sealed a two-year deal after senior Gor Mahia officials and their counterparts from Saint George agreed on a deal late yesterday after a month of speculations.

Mieno is now set to link up with another Kenyan, former Tusker and Harambee Stars keeper Patrick Matasi, in the club and will also re-unite with head coach Stewart Hall, who coached him twice, in Sofapaka and Azam of Tanzania.

Elsewhere, defending champions Gor Mahia will be up against Mt Kenya United in a Kenya Premier League match on Wednesday.

K’Ogallo is 6th on the log with 10 points, while bottom side Mt Kenya United has only managed two points after 7 matches.

Finally, Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya says their 2-1 win over Western Stima FC on Sunday at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos is a huge boost for his side.

Goals from George Abege and Harrison Mwendwa helped Sharks return to winning ways after registering two consecutive draws against Mt. Kenya United and KCB.

Hubert Kopany scored the consolation goal for the visitors.

Sharks, will play away to Zoo Kericho on Thursday and are 5^th on the log with 13 points after seven rounds of matches this season, level on points with 4^th placed Tusker FC.

Mathare United lead KPL standings with 17 points, two points ahead of Bandari, the only other Kenya Premier League team yet to taste defeat this season, while Western Stima are 3^rd on 14 points.
