The Ministry of Sport will set up a stakeholder committee to develop procedures ahead of resumption of play in Kenya.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed on March 23 ordered all public sporting facilities closed down and sports events stopped after the country reported its first case of Covid-19 10 days earlier on March 13.

The Chief Administrate Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Hassan Noor Hassan, said Friday that most sportsmen and women are anxious and eager to resume training, but can only be allowed to do so after consultation and proper strategy from the ministry of health and other stakeholders.

“CS Amina will set up the committee that will explore the possibilities and ways that will set our sportsmen and women back on track, ring, swimming pool among other sporting venues,” said Hassan.

“However, as for now, I urge them to be patient since their health and safety of their families are most important at this time.”

Hassan was speaking at the Nyayo National Stadium on Friday when he briefed the media on progress made in the disbursement of Covid-19 stimulus package.
