DAILY POST: STEVE MBOGO arrested for posing with an automatic rifle and bullet proof vest during DUSIT D2 HOTEL attack – He is a male version of a slay queen 05:21 Wednesday January 16, 2019-Former Starehe parliamentary aspirant, Steve Mbogo, has been arrested for being in possession of illegal firearms.
Mbogo, who contested the seat using Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket in 2017 General Election , was on Tuesday spotted posing with an illegal firearm and a bullet proof vest when Al Shabab terrorists struck Dusit D2 Hotel. Though he maintained that he is a licensed firearm holder , Mbogo was detained at Nairobi Area Police station and he is awaiting to be taken to court for being in possession of a semi automatic attack gun and a bullet proof vest. According to Kenya’s Firearm Act, no civilian is allowed to carry an automatic gun or a bullet proof vest. When contacted, Mbogo said he went to the terror front as a “licensed firearms holder, who was willing to help”. “I am a licensed firearms holder. I was running my errands near the dusitD2 Hotel here in Nairobi, when I learnt that the facility was under a terror attack. Because I was in a position to help, given I have good knowledge on how to handle firearms and protect myself against such situations, I went in to help in the rescue operations. If you are asking in what capacity I was there, I would tell you: I was there as a civilian, who is mandated by law to handle firearms,” Mbogo said.
