National Assembly members Wednesday convened for the morning sitting under the leadership of Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi.

The perceived bad blood between the National Assembly and the Senate came to the fore once again with the latter spending the better part of Wednesday morning session discussing the relevance of the Senate.

Moving the Motion, the Majority Leader in the National Assembly Adan Duale accused the Senate of overstepping its mandate and duplicating roles that constitutionally belonged to the National Assembly.

He questioned the relevance of a number of committees in the Senate.

Duale sounded a warning to Cabinet Secretaries who appeared before the Senate committees when summoned claiming they were breaking the law.

The Senate according to Duale who quoted article 95 of the constitution was not even allowed to vet state officers whenever there was recruitment.

Various MPs echoed the sentiments with some calling for the scrapping of the Senate.
