Vanessa Mdee recently announced her decision to quit music
A few days ago, Tanzanian songstress shocked her fans by unexpectedly announcing that she had retired from music-making.
Tanzania’s music regulator known as Baraza La Sanaa La Taifa (BASATA) has now come forward to respond to the sad news. Speaking during a press conference, BASATA Secretary-General, Godfrey Mngereza revealed that according to him, Vanessa Mdee made the right move. However, giving up is a taboo or sin.
“Ni kweli kuna changamoto kwenye upande wa burudani, lakini muda mwingine kukata tamaa ni mwiko au dhambi kwa kazi ambayo unaipenda na kwa upande mwingine, inazungumzia wasanii ambao wanaishi maisha ambayo sio ya uhalisia ila na imani sio wote watakaokuwa wanaacha muziki ipo siku atarudi tu” said Godfrey Mngereza.
Big facts: The Kisela hitmaker took to her Podcast “Deep Dive with Vanessa Mdee” to announce that she was hanging up the mic. Mdee who is currently staying in the USA with her boo, an Actor and singer Rotimi cited that the music industry was “very demonic”.
” The reason why I had to leave the industry is that I needed to choose my life, the music industry is demonic. People will tell you half-truth about what really goes on, and the truth is I just wanna be an advocate for honesty and beauty and being a sincere advocate for what facing your demons can do for You. Now my fans are probably asking themselves right now; Are you gonna never sing again? Are we gonna never see you perform? Let me reiterate, I love music, I love to create, I love to perform, I’m a vessel, this is what I was brought on earth to be,” she was quoted.
