Tea Auction Records Another Fall in Prices

The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on 25th, 26th and 27th October 2021 had 10 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer increased from 9.8 million kilograms during a similar period last year, and from 8.7 million kilograms during the previous sale.

Of all the tea offered for sale, 8 million kilograms were sold compared to 9 million kilograms for the same period last year, and 7.65 million kilograms during the previous sale.

The tea auction recorded a decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $2.23, compared to $2.27 during the previous sale held on 18th and 19th October 2021, and $1.92 during the same period last year.
