Top pupils share their aspirations :: Kenya

Kisii county’s top KCPE candidate Dorothy Hadassah Ommedo dreams of becoming a lawyer.

Dorothy, who sat the exam at Genesis Preparatory School in Kisii Central, scored 442 marks.


Teenage pregnancies higher than thought

Maths, English and Kiswahili were her best subjects.

Her father, Vincent Omeddo, is a surgeon, while her mother, Deborah Omeddo, is a paediatrician. They both work at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Gloria Ogochi, who sat her exams at Imperial Academy and scored 435 marks, hopes to join Alliance Girls High School and later pursue medicine at university.

“We had the best learning environment that enabled us to achieve the best result,” she said.

At Set Green Hill Academy, Felistus Mecheo scored 430 marks.

Felistsus hopes to join Alliance Girls and later become a gynaecologist to help poor mothers who can’t afford proper maternal health services.

“I used to score good marks but wasn’t sure that I could make it to the top performers,” she said.
