The planned construction in Naivasha of over 2,000 low cost houses by Nakuru County government and the World Bank may fail to kick off after a section of traders moved in to oppose the project.
The trader’s involved in meat business opposed the move saying the demolition of their slaughter house to pave way for the construction of the houses will affect their livelihoods.
The affordable housing project is set to be built on a 50 acre piece of land bordering Naivasha Maximum Prison where the slaughterhouse is located.
The project will see the slaughterhouse demolished and moved to another area far from the lake side town to pave way for the construction.
