Uber Launches Boda Boda Services in Nairobi

The Uber company has announced the launch of UberBoda in Nairobi, Kenya, a move that is set to boost navigation within the city.

The UberBODA service will exist alongside other Uber products in the app and thus there is no need to download another application.

“Once you enter your destination in the app, we’ll show you the fare estimate before starting your trip. You can always check your receipt for the fare breakdown in your Uber app at the end of the trip,”the company said in a statement.

The UberBoda fares will be as follows:

  • Minimum fare – Ksh60
  • Base fare – Ksh55
  • Per Kilometre – Ksh14
  • Per Minute – Ksh1

Additionally, passengers and drivers will benefit from Injury Protection provided by UAP-Old Mutual while on any uberBODA trip requested through the app as well as 24-hour access to an SGA security hotline in the event of an incident.

A passenger has the alternative of sharing the UberBODA trip with family and friends in order to track the movement until the final destination.

Successful riders, also known as driver-partners must undergo a complete background check, hold a valid driving license and have third party insurance before they can drive on uberBODA.

The company’s launch of uberBODA in Nairobi follows a recent launch of similar services in Kampala, Uganda earlier in March of this year.

Early this year, ride-sharing firm Taxify also introduced a motorbike hailing service in Nairobi.
