Urithi Housing and cooperative society Chairman Samuel Maina has dismissed claims that the organization is struggling saying there are a few people who want to tarnish the organizations name.

In a statement, Maina said there are concerted efforts in social media aimed at attacking and tarnishing the name of Urithi as well as other players in the real estate industry.

He said that a few are taking advantage of the fear in the market and current economic situation to scare investors.

The Chairman says some of those spreading the claims are extortionists adding that they are working with relevant authorities to unmask them.

“Our Members should be aware of such activities and should remain vigilant to avoid playing into the hands and focus on what is the core reason for belonging with the Co-operative.”He said.

Maina said they will not allow them to distort their model or sway the society from its vision which is singularly geared towards improving the lives of all Kenyans by offering affordable land and housing solutions.

He said Urithi has within 7 years of operations, build and handed over five hundred and fifty (550) houses across different regions while over one thousand two hundred (1200) houses priced from as low as Ksh 500,000/- are under construction.

“We have also issued over six thousand and five hundred title deeds across the Country with the recent exercise done on 4th April 2019.” He said.

Maina also noted that some members have defaulted their payments due to the claims on social media saying members owe the society Ksh 2 billion.

He urged the members to remain vigilant and contact the Society’s office if they have concerns.
