Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama looks set to remain at the club for the better part of this season after failing to seal a move away this summer.
Wanyama's future at Spurs came under sharp speculation after falling down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino.
The Harambee Stars' skipper is yet to feature for the north London club in any the four matches of the new season.
He, however, made the match day squad to face Aston Villa in Spurs' season opener, but did not play.
The arrival of Tanguy Ndombele in the summer and Pochettino's preference of youngster Oliver Skipp ahead of Wanyama has seen the Kenyan midfielder fall out of favour.
The 28-year-old's uncertain future at Tottenham put several European clubs on red alert, including Bologna, Club Brugge and AS Monaco.
However, it was a move to Club Brugge that looked likely after the Belgian outfit and the Premier League side agreeing a fee of around £12m for the transfer of the former Southampton.
But the deal appear to have collapsed over financial issues that remain unresolved between the two clubs.
A return to Celtic on a season-long loan deal was also mooted, but the proposed move never saw the light of day.
With the European transfer window shutting on Monday, September 2, Wanyama will now possibly stay with the Lilywhites to fight for his place.
