Francis Wangusi has been reinstated as the Director-General of the Communications Authority of Kenya by the Employment and Labour Relations court. The court stopped the recruitment of a new director-general until there is a board in place.
The Employment and Labour Relations court argued that the absence of a board makes the appointment of the acting director-general unlawful. Last week, CA appointed Ms. Mercy Wanjau as the acting director-general to replace Mr. Wangusi.
Consumer Federation of Kenya (Cofek) filed a petition saying that Mr. Wangusi would be the legitimate person to fill the vacant position to ensure the appointment of a new board and assess his successor. Wangusi’s term expired on 21st August 2019 paving way for the appointment of a new DG.
The court scheduled a hearing on 9th September.
