Eliud Kipchoge will begin his record attempt today at 9:15am with the Olympic champion attempting to break the two-hour marathon barrier in Vienna, Austria.

Leading broadcaster Citizen TV will broadcast the once in a lifetime event dubbed #INEOSChallenge via the link https://citizentv.co.ke/tv/.

Kipchoge, who has won 11 of the 12 marathon career marathons, is aiming to break the mythical athletics barrier in his second attempt after falling 26 seconds short in 2017 in Monza, Italy.

The 34-year-old is hoping his latest bid would be comparable in the annals of human achievement to the moon landing.

Kipchoge lowered the legal world record by an staggering 78 seconds when posting 2:01.39 in Berlin last September and recorded the second-fastest time in history when he won the London marathon in 2:02.37 in April.

But if he dips under two hours, it will not count as an official world-record as the race set-up will use alternating pacemakers to keep him under the required pace and against IAAF regulations.

Watch out for the numbers Kipchoge must hit in order to run at least 1:59:59.

He will need to sustain a 4:34 minutes per mile pace over the distance to complete the challenge.
