80 swimmers leave country for Dolphin Junior championship

A team of 80 youthful swimmers selected from Machakos private schools will compete in this month’s Dolphin Junior Swimming Championship set to be held from 4th to 9th on Kampala, Uganda.

The event is an international meet organized annually.

Other countries who are taking part in the Championships include; Tanzania, Sudan, Zambia, Malawi, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

The team was flagged off by the Chief Officer Youth and Sports Machakos County Henry Carlos Kioko.

Kioko congratulated the young swimmers for their courage and determination at an early age.

The sport’s chief disclosed that the County government of Machakos was looking for investors to construct an international water sports arena that would host international and Olympics swimming competitions.

Kioko confirmed Governor Mutua’s commitment to nurturing talents in the region.

The Kenyan swimmers assured of good results as well as record their best ever performance in the Junior Championship.

The Junior Swimming Championships will be held at Gems Cambridge School Kampala.
