Chief justice David Maraga has down played talks that Judiciary has failed in war against corruption by not attending to cases maximally and releasing suspects with ‘‘lesser’’ bails.
Addressing the media today, Maraga said the courts depend on the evidence brought to them by the prosecution side before deciding any course of action on a particular case.
‘‘The judiciary are purely evidence based institution and if you bring us hopeless case without evidence we’ll shoot it down and give clear reasons in the ruling.’’ He added
Attorney General Paul Kihara however maintains that the Judiciary has not done much in war against corruption.
According to Kihara there are several corruption cases that are yet to be concluded and Kenyans are waiting for the results.
‘‘Lets work for Wanjiku ,we have many pending cases in our courts without clear reason .’’ Kihara noted.
They were speaking during the swearing in of incoming Ethics and anti-corruption commission chief executive officer Twalib Mbarak.
