Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has closed a private school in Kibera slums in the wake of a school tragedy that left eight pupils dead and 64 others injured.

Magoha who made an impromptu visit to the school Wednesday has directed all the 207 learners of the academy to join Ayany Estate Primary in Kibera.

On Monday the country woke up to the shocking news of the sudden death of Precious Talent Academy pupils on Ngong Road as they undertook morning preps.

The learners aged between eight and 13 years met their deaths after the walls of their classrooms caved in on them.

Several others were injured in the tragedy that has cast a spotlight on structures in private schools and safety of pupils in schools.

Magoha has consequently ordered a countrywide inspection of all schools to ensure the institutions’ infrastructure comply with set standards.

He asked Quality Assurance and Standards Officers to ensure non-compliant schools are closed down.
