Thursday January 17, 2019 – Somalia’s militant group, Al Shabaab, claimed responsibility for the attack on Dusit office and hotel complex that claimed the lives of 21 people and hundreds injured. The attack that happened on Tuesday afternoon was carried out by five Jihadists who were later killed by Kenya’s Special Forces on Wednesday night. According to an Al Jazeera informer, Harun Maruf, the five were part of Al Shabaab’s military wing “Jaysh Ayman” which is assigned with the duty of attacking Kenya. In a statement on Thursday, the militants claimed that they carried out the attack in Nairobi in response to US President Donald Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The ragtag group further claimed that the five Mujahideens accomplished their mission by killing over 50 Kenyans. But according to official statistics, it is only 21 people who were killed by the militants.
