Mombasa governor Hassan Joho business associate Mohammed Soud Machele’s bank accounts have been frozen.

According to sources, bank transactions running into Sh324 million raised eyebrows forcing Central Bank of Kenya to act.

CBK is investigating the loot as part of money laundering or from drug proceeds. The money which was in his Gulf Bank account, Mombasa branch, cannot be accessed now. Mohammed made attempts to make withdrawals but he was bluntly denied.

CBK is also investigating those who have been depositing on the account and if he operates other accounts in local or offshore banks. It has been established that Machele is not new to such huge transactions. He even operates a dollar account with another international bank.

He runs a number of firms using proxies using Instagram model type of business with the county in what is a direct conflict of interest.

Machele to hide his dirty deals claims to be a philanthropist in Mombasa and is being groomed to run for Mvita MP seat in 2022. The seat is held by Abdulsamad Nassir.

Mwachele a former casual labourer with KPA was involved in dubious business at the port that helped him land in big money. He was the Joho family spanner boy at the port where the Johos have vast financial interest.
